When using Excel, if you need to submit many attachments (such as Word documents, other Excel files, etc.), we can use the "Insert Object" feature to embed them into the Excel file, thereby reducing the number of files.
For example
Traditional method: We need to submit 10 Word documents and 1 Excel file list. By default, we need to submit 11 different files.
"Insert Object": We embed 10 Word documents into the Excel file, so only 1 file needs to be submitted to solve the problem!
However, I encountered an error that took 10 minutes to finally resolve. I'm recording it here in hopes that it will help others who encounter similar situations.
Problem Description
In Excel, when trying to insert Word documents as "objects", I encountered the "Cannot Insert Object" error.

Cause of the Problem
After thorough investigation, it turned out that the document to be inserted was already open in the Word application, causing the insertion to fail.
So by closing the Word application before adding, we can solve the problem. What a revelation!
Correct Method
Step 1: Close the document to be added
Prepare the document to be added, and convert it to the required format according to business needs (.docx or .doc does not affect whether it can be added successfully).
After saving the document, close the Word application (crucial step).
Step 2: Insert object in Excel
In Excel, select the cell where you want to add the attachment, then in the ribbon, choose Insert - Object - Create from File, and the "Object" dialog box will automatically pop up.

Step 3: Choose appropriate options
In the "Object" dialog box, use "Browse" to select the document you want to insert, then click OK.
If you want the Excel file to contain the attachment itself, rather than linking to the original file (like in my case), uncheck "Link to file".
If you want the added attachment to only preview the title instead of displaying the document content in the directory (like in my case), check "Display as icon".

Mission accomplished!
If you follow the same steps as me, you'll see the document inserted as an icon in the cell. You can also adjust the size of the icon or cell to make it neater.
